Today I wanted to share with you some simple things to look for when looking for a PT in Harrogate or a PT in general.

In my opinion you should look for the following:

  • Ensure the coach or trainer does a movement screening assessment. This way they can identify any bio mechanical issues & muscular imbalances or postural abnormalities.
  • Ensure an assessment of your whole health and lifestyle is conducted taking any medical records including orthopaedic issues. Other things to look at are diet, hydration, digestion, level of stress, and any other components of health that they feel is necessary, particularly if you have a specific complaint.
  • A good trainer will have access to professionals in various fields of research who can do lab testing if necessary.
  • Ensure you check that the trainer has good reviews and success stories.
  • Make sure the PT has a system for recording your progress so you can see visual and measurable results.
  • Be sure that the trainer is training you to reach your goals. Sometimes PT’s can put their own way of training on to you which may not be the best method.
  • Make the sure the PT’s video matches their audio. They should practice what they preach, you would not take advice from a virgin sex therapist would you? Or a dentist with teeth like a Toblerone.
  • Ensure the trainer takes regular seminars, courses, or consistently enhances their knowledge by always seeking to improve their skills.
  • If they use their mobile phone while they are training, you should be worried.

I hope this helps and you find the best suitable trainer for you.
